Change bibliographic styles with "Choose Citation Styles" in t he Mendeley toolbar.

Your bibliography will appear, and new citations will be added automatically.

At the end of your paper, click "Insert Bibliography".

To add a citation while writing, just click on "Insert Citation" and a pop-up box will appear offering the opportunity to search for your citation by author, title or year in your Library or your Groups, or to go to Mendeley directly.

But in subsecuent installations of Mendeley, the word plugin option is not coming up. I dont know if it would matter, but I installed Mendeley before installing Microsoft Word. I installed the new version from the link provided above in the post.
